Photos of Alvaston Park, Derby, Derbyshire, England. Alvaston Park is another popular public park in Derby. This one has it's own lake which has lots of ducks and geese. The park also boasts a BMX track and a bowling green. The River Derwent runs along the back of the park. In early 2003 a skateboard park was built here. Parking for the park is located in front of the park on London road or in the main car park near the bowling green which is accessible via Meadow Lane (to the east of the park) The lake used to be fed from a stream on the south-side of the lake, The bridge where it entered the lake is still present today. This stream used to run past the right side of the former Carnegie Library in a straight line to the lake. The source of this stream was Osmaston Park Farm (a farm which used to be part of Osmaston Hall, now demolished), from here is flowed east to the former Derby Canal and then north towards London Road and the Library. |
